ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - May is off to a cool start with temperatures dipping into the 40s Monday night under clear skies. The wind will diminish to less than 10 mph by sunrise but pick back up again during the day. It will be sunny through the day with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s in Atlanta. It will be a bit cooler in the mountains. The wind will gust over 30 mph during the afternoon before diminishing again in the evening. It will be cool again Tuesday night with lows in the 40s Wednesday morning.

Clear and seasonably cool weather continues Wednesday. The wind will stay active, but most likely not quite as strong as Tuesday afternoon. Expect 15-30 mph winds on Wednesday with highs in the mid 60s to near 70.

Thursday looks nice with less wind and slightly warmer temps in the mid 70s. It will likely stay dry through Friday with highs in the mid 70s again.

Looking ahead to the first weekend of May, a few showers are possible on Saturday, but it does not look like a washout. We’re also watching for a chance of showers on Sunday.
