ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Clouds are rolling in Friday evening ahead of a cold front that will bring the risk of showers and thunderstorms late Friday night into early Saturday morning. The best chance of rain in Atlanta Metro is between 5-9 AM, with skies clearing quickly in the mid to late morning. A few rumbles of thunder are possible, but severe weather is not expected.

Saturday afternoon will be partly to mostly sunny with a gusty northwest breeze. The wind will be between 15-25 mph Saturday afternoon with the temperature climbing through the 60s to near 70 by late in the afternoon.

The wind diminishes Saturday night under clear skies. The temperature will dip into the 40s to near 50 by dawn on Sunday. The weekend ends with a partly sunny pleasant Sunday. Highs will be near 70 in Atlanta and south of I-20. It may not get out of the 60s in the mountains.

More relatively cool weather is in the forecast for next week. Dry weather continues on Monday, but showers threaten in the mid to late workweek. We have issued a First Alert for increasing rain chances on Wednesday. Highs will likely be in the 60s most or all of the work/school week.
