Police arrest 3 more suspects in shooting that killed 2 youths in Midtown Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Police have arrested three more people in connection with a November shooting on the 17th Street Bridge in Midtown that killed two young people.
Derodney Russell was taken into custody March 5 in Clayton County by the sherriff’s office, according to Atlanta police. His age was not immediately provided. Two 15-year-olds were arrested March 20. One was arrested by Atlanta police. The other surrendered himself.
Twelve-year-old Zyion Charles and 15-year-old Kameron Jackson were killed during a dispute Nov. 26, 2022. Zyion died at the scene, while Kameron died days later. Kameron was the target of the shooting, police said, while Zyion was struck by a stray bullet.
Police believe the shooting happened moments after a group of teenagers had been escorted off the Atlantic Station property and an incident escalated.
Police had already arrested three others in connection with the shooting. Each faces a long list of charges, including charges related to gang involvement.
