FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Pleasant Saturday before a rainy Sunday
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The weather looks nice, but chilly, Friday night into Saturday morning. The temperature will dip through the 50s into the 40s and 30s by sunrise on Saturday. The sun rises before 7 AM for the last time until late-April as we set our clocks ahead an hour to start Daylight Saving Time this weekend.
The temperature climbs to the 50s by midday and will reach the low to mid 60s in the afternoon with sunshine filtered through high clouds. Clouds thicken Saturday evening, and a few showers cannot be ruled out by midnight.
Rain likely, chance of thunderstorms, on Sunday
Rain chances increase Saturday night and moderate to heavy rain is likely at times during the day on Sunday. There is also a level 2 risk of severe storms southwest of Atlanta. Most of the rest of north Georgia is in a level one risk. The greatest risk is for strong winds and large hail with the heavy rain and lightning. There’s a lower risk of a brief tornado.
Temperatures will be wide-ranging on Sunday. It will be in the 40s over northeast Georgia and 60s southwest of Atlanta. Most of the day will be in the 50s around Atlanta Metro. Sunset is at 7:42 PM, but it looks like we’ll still be dealing with showers at that time. Rain totals between 1-2″ are possible from the storm which will depart by sunrise on Monday.
The weather looks quiet, but chilly in the early to middle of next workweek. Low temperatures near or below freezing are possible on Tuesday and Wednesday.
