ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) - The DeKalb County School District is lifting its mandatory mask requirement for all staff and students indoors and on school buses.
Effective March 2, mask-wearing will be strongly encouraged for all staff, students, and visitors.
The district is one of the last in metro Atlanta to go mask-optional after the CDC relaxed its recommendation on school masks amid a sharp decrease in new COVID-19 cases. Clayton County Public Schools continues to require masks.
DCSD says it will continue the following:
- Reporting positive COVID-19 cases and exposures utilizing the portal;
- Implementing mitigating strategies in all school and district facilities; and
- Offering surveillance testing in schools and central offices.
